So, it’s raining pretty hard, and you’ve found that the roof is leaking right?! You might not find it to be a massive problem just yet, but it could be if you don’t do anything about it. There are all sorts of reasons why your roof might be leaking, and it’s not always easy to diagnose the cause yourself. Some of these issues are potentially quite costly while others aren’t so much. Unfortunately, it’s something that has to be fixed, so it’s best to start preparing now.

At this point, we can’t tell you what’s wrong with your roof. However, there are a number of common causes for roof leaks. Firstly, it might just be an issue related to age. As with all materials, roofing materials deteriorate over time. The weather can cause havoc on our roofs, and eventually, it’s not going to be able to take the constant battering any longer.

Another common reason for a leak is related to slipped tiles. If your roof is tiled in a certain way, it’s very easy to spot whether they have moved. Go outside and have a look at your structure. If there’s a notable gap up there, you’ve found your problem. Most likely, you’ll find that water will continue to drip through this crack as it’ll build up in pools after a bout of rain.

Debris on the roof and in the gutters can also lead to a leak. The only way to solve this one is to get up there yourself and see what’s going on. In order to prevent this sort of thing, ensure your gutters are regularly kept clean and clear of rubbish. The same goes for the roof, and you should be carrying out very occasional checks to make sure there’s no build-up.

In some cases, it might not even be a direct leak from the roof. Condensation can be a big problem in small attics where the roof isn’t adequately ventilated. A good way to solve an issue like this is to install a ventilation fan. You’re also going to want to treat any mold build-ups that accumulate as a result of the issue.

This information is all well and good, but what can you actually do about it? Well, unless you’re skilled in this area of work, you’re going to want to hire roofing services to help. The good news is that in a lot of cases, you probably won’t need a brand-new roof. The process of re-roofing involves adding a new layer of roofing over the existing one instead. In terms of cost, it’ll vary depending on the service you require. Of course, roofing companies will be able to give you a quote before carrying out any work on the property.

A leaking roof isn’t fun, but it’s something that has to be fixed. If you leave it, the damage will get considerably worse over time, increasing the risk to your health and your wallet! Take the time to sort it out now, and hopefully, you’ll never have to worry about roofing problems ever again.
